Are you passionate about pioneering technology and curious about what’s next? At Imperial Brands, we’re not just imagining the future – we’re building it. As a Test Technician within our Discovery pillar, you’ll be at the heart of upstream innovation, working on cutting-edge devices and technologies that will define the next generation of our products. This is your chance to be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team where your ideas matter and your work makes a real impact.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support Innovation Projects: Work alongside Innovation Engineers to test prototypes and contribute to early-stage technology development within the Discovery team.
  • Conduct Testing & Reporting: Operate test machinery, carry out product testing, record results accurately, and produce clear documentation and reports for internal sharing.
  • Manage Workshop & Laboratory Facilities: Take responsibility for maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient working environment, including equipment calibration, stock control, and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Prototype & Sample Handling: Assemble and disassemble prototypes, competitor products, and test samples; create jigs and fixtures to support research and development activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Prepare samples for consumer and sensory testing, support training initiatives, and assist with compliance across innovation projects.
  • Hands-On Operational Support: Carry out practical tasks such as preparing materials in formulation and development areas, and managing stock through the warehouse system.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Practical experience with data acquisition and logging, as well as confident use of general workshop hand and machine tools.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with a proven ability to complete tasks to agreed standards.
  • Highly proficient in IT, with the ability to interpret, analyse, and present numerical data accurately.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a mechanical or product testing role, ideally within a workshop or laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing technical documentation, compiling test data, and presenting findings in a clear and professional manner.

Whilst applications from all locations will be considered, please note that priority will be given to candidates who are based locally and possess the required skills and experience for the role.
