We’re now looking for a passionate and experienced Mechanical Development Manager to join our Innovation team in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the mechanical design and development of cutting-edge hand-held devices, helping to shape the future of consumer experiences worldwide.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide technical leadership in mechanical design and development to support innovation projects and maintain industry competitiveness.
  • Manage mechanical team resources, including recruitment, training, and collaboration with contractors and partners.
  • Oversee mechanical architecture, detailed design, validation, and testing of devices and consumables with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and manage partner ecosystems and assess third-party capabilities for device development and manufacturing.
  • Ensure mechanical design procedures meet product specifications, regulatory standards, and drive cost-effective improvements.
  • Mentor engineers, generate innovative solutions, and ensure timely delivery of mechanical development outputs.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree (BEng, MEng, PhD or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in developing high-volume injection moulded components and consumer or medical products.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and innovative concept generation for engineering challenges.
  • Skilled in planning, risk mitigation, and managing resources across large or critical R&D projects.
  • Effective communicator with experience collaborating across internal teams and external partners.
  • Familiarity with firmware development for microcontrollers and delivering R&D in regulated environments such as tobacco or pharmaceuticals.
