In this exciting role within our Mechanical Engineering Team, you’ll report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and act as a technical expert on New Product Development projects. You'll play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge devices as part of our R&D Innovation function—bringing bold ideas to life and making a real impact on our next generation of products.
Principle Accountabilities
- Act as the mechanical engineering expert within a cross-functional team to develop and deliver prototypes and technical solutions for innovation projects.
- Generate innovative mechanical concepts to address complex engineering challenges and meet design and performance requirements.
- Lead the design, iterative development, and testing of prototypes, collaborating closely with mechanical engineers and technicians.
- Work alongside Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure solutions are consumer-relevant, cost-effective, and scalable.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers to access emerging technologies and support prototype development through to full-scale production.
- Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to co-develop and manufacture prototypes, ensuring smooth transition to mass production.
Skills and Experience Required
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent), with excellent English language skills and over five years’ experience in full product development lifecycles.
- Proven track record in delivering complex R&D projects, with strong planning, risk mitigation, and DFMEA expertise in cross-functional environments.
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, stamping, and extrusion, with a solid understanding of material selection for varied environmental conditions.
- Skilled in generating innovative engineering concepts and supporting intellectual property creation through detailed technical documentation.
- Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD design using SolidWorks (or similar), with experience in creating and reviewing engineering drawings for mass production.
- Strong grasp of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and statistical process control (CPK, PPK), with familiarity in general tolerances for injection moulded, elastomeric, and stamped components.
