Are you passionate about hands-on problem solving and cutting-edge technology? Imperial Brands, a forward-thinking global FMCG business powered by 25,000 talented individuals, is looking for a dedicated Test Technician to join our Device Development team in Liverpool.

This exciting role sits within the R&D pillar of our Innovation function, where you’ll play a vital part in shaping the future of our products. Working closely with engineers and reporting to the Prototype and Validation Manager, you’ll support the development of next-generation devices through rigorous testing, prototyping, and collaboration.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Support Development Engineers in testing prototypes and running test machinery, ensuring accurate data capture and documentation of results.
  • Assist in new technology and product development projects, including the assembly, disassembly, and preparation of prototypes and test samples.
  • Operate, maintain, and commission workshop equipment while upholding health and safety standards and good working practices.
  • Produce jigs, fixtures, and other practical components to support R&D, prototype assembly, and testing activities.
  • Prepare and manage product samples for consumer and sensory testing, including manufacturing trial materials and handling materials through the warehouse.
  • Maintain workshop standards, tools, and consumables, while supporting internal training, compliance, and ongoing engineering projects.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Over two years’ experience in mechanical and product testing, including exposure to workshop environments and use of test equipment.
  • Proficient in data acquisition, logging, and the interpretation and analysis of numerical data.
  • Skilled in the use of general workshop hand and machine tools, with a strong understanding of safety and operational standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and complete technical tasks to agreed specifications and deadlines.
  • Experienced in producing technical documentation and presenting data in clear, structured reports.
  • Highly computer literate with excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
