The Procurement team at Imperial Brands is part of the Global Supply Chain function and is spread across many locations. It is undergoing an exciting transformation as it is looking to bring more consistency in practices across these different locations and categories of spend.

The Procurement team is structured by Category teams (Leaf, Non-Tobacco Materials, New Generation Products and Indirects), Business partnering and regional teams, and Procurement Excellence and Transformation.

This role will report to the Procurement Senior Manager for Process, Systems & Data who is responsible for 1 of the 3 pillars within Procurement Excellence team (the others 2 pillars being Procurement Supplier Relationship Management; and ESG), with primarily responsibility of the Procurement business.

This role is instrumental in identifying as-is and formulating to-be processes and policies as well as supporting their implementation in Procurement system landscape in order to drive consistency in procurement practices across all procurement teams.

To best support both Procurement and the wider Imperial Brands Business, the policies and processes need to be value adding, risk based, easily accessible and simple to use.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Establishing consistent Procurement ways of working across the end-to-end Sourcing to Pay process, incl. Source-To-Contract as well as Purchase-To-Pay processes and Buying Channel deployments.
  • Managing the functional Procurement policies, processes and alignment within the procurement system landscape, ensuring alignment with business risk appetite, integration with adjacent processes and compliance & governance through implementation of good practice.
  • Managing the roll out, implementation & training around Procurement Processes and system guidance
  • Ensuring compliance & governance to process, managing metrics around compliance & remediation
  • Managing Procurement training needs identification for process (incl. procurement systems) & collective training plans
  • Driving continuous improvement of procurement policies, processes and tools.
  • Managing requirement definition and collection for implementing standard processes within the Procurement system landscape and act as solution matter expert for Procurement.
  • Managing procurement data requirement gathering and their implementation within the Procurement and relevant ERP system landscape

Principle Accountabilities

  • Developing, delivering & managing the Procurement as well as Purchase-To-Pay Policies & Processes
  • Ensuring alignment & integration of Procurement policies & process within the e2e suits of business processes across markets/ regions/ categories developing, delivering training & embedding of Policy & Process, ensuring functional & user demands are met
  • Managing version control & update of all functional policies & processes, ensuring that all procurement processes, tools and policies reflect best practice and can be easily understood and accessible both within Procurement and across the wider business. This includes continuous improvement ownership of those policies & processes through Best Practice Benchmarking and periodic review of satisfaction, performance, and compliance.
  • Ensure successful collaboration with GBS by defining, monitoring and adjusting the scope/ touchpoints and interdependencies between Procurement Excellence team vs GBS role and responsibilities
  • Manage the procurement competency framework, identification of common training needs and collective training plan for the Procurement community.
  • Develop & manage the implementation of S2P process requirements within the Procurement system landscape, as well act as solution matter expert for such solution (incl. holding trainings and management of knowledge base for Procurement systems)

Skills and Experience Required

  • Degree Level education or relevant work experience
  • Detailed understanding of end to end Procurement processes and key disciplines (category management, strategic sourcing, Contract Management, Purchase to Pay, Buying Channels and Supplier Relationship Management) from an operational perspective.
  • Experience of implementing Procurement policies, including relevant training and ongoing management of policy compliance.
  • Experience in developing or using Procurement competency framework, identifying training solutions and coordinating training plans
  • Experience in working within a matrix environment, especially with Process Owners, Group Risk functions & technology experts.
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Adapt at working in both team environment and solo
  • Experience in planning, organizing and managing multiple projects

  • Excellent Microsoft Office suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience of using process mapping tools (ideally Signavio)
  • Experience in the use of Procurement Systems (ideally SAP Ariba, SpendHQ PPM)
