The Role

Location: Laos

Market Manager, Laos is responsible for leading and managing the Lao Tobacco Limited joint venture (JV), setting and driving the sales of LTL products in the country, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements, managing key stakeholders, and overseeing various operational and strategic functions to drive business success. He/She will be responsible for the overall performance of the market and the management, coordination and execution of in-market activities

The candidate will be required to closely collaborate and be an active member of the Cluster management team to provide key opportunities, inputs and updates. This role will report to the General Manager AMET


Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Volume and P&L Delivery

  • Take full responsibility for volume targets and profit & loss delivery.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.Sales, Distribution, and RTM Management
  • Manage sales operations, distribution channels, and route-to-market strategies.
  • Optimize sales processes and ensure market penetration.Brand and Portfolio Management
  • Oversee the management of both IB and JV-owned brands.
  • Develop and execute portfolio strategies to maximize brand valueManaging and Organizing the JV Board
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements.
  • Facilitate effective communication and decision-making within the boardStakeholder Management
  • Manage Laos Government stakeholders as shareholders in the JV.
  • Oversee major foreign direct investment activities in Laos.Indirect Management of Factory and Leaf Farming
  • Act as the entity head for factory operations and leaf farming.
  • Ensure efficient and sustainable practices.Statutory, Legal, and Trade Union Adherence
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for compliance with statutory, legal, and trade union regulations.CORA Agenda Management
  • Oversee regulatory engagement and CSR responsibilities.
  • Ensure alignment with corporate social responsibility goals.Capability Development
  • Enhance workforce capabilities and manage talent development.

Finance Planning, Accounting, and Controlling

  • Ensure compliance with both Laos statutory and Imperial market financial regulations.
  • Oversee financial planning, accounting, and controlling activities.

Business and Operational Planning

  • Develop and execute business and operational plans.
  • Ensure alignment with strategic objectives and operational efficiency.

Insights and Intelligence Gathering

  • Gather, analyze, and report market insights and intelligence.
  • Use data to inform strategic decisions and improve business performance.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Fluent in English
  • University degree education with several years of experience.
  • Previous experience in Sales will be a must
  • Solid Leadership skills
  • Strategic thinker and negotiator
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to contribute at the strategic business unit level.
  • Operationally focused. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver operational excellence in the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience in planning and the implementation as well as budgetary control and commercial savviness.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Solid understanding of the company, being able to talk with confidence about the different brands and types of product while describing the market and the key trends
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including experience with CLA and engagement with policymakers.
  • Previous experience in Sales will be a must
